It's kinda depressing when, looking up Jesus comics on youtube and discovering an epic one with Jesus riding a velociraptor, and on xkcd forums, no less... you read the rest of the forum thread and discover it quickly devolves into a general bashing of Christianity and its followers, and when one person tries to defend it, he gets blasted with:
"Spit, you are a physicist studying for a Ph.D. I would imagine you are proficient in basic logic, to say the least. If that is what you believe, how can you possibly rectify that with the amount of knowledge of the universe as it exists today and the use of the scientific method that I am sure you are familiar with? If not, then you have no reason to be offended."

THE SECRET LOVERS MEME

Spent the last few days playing rugby for the great season exhibition tournament known as Rugbyfest, where 40 teams from across the nearby provinces congregate at the private school in my town for a colossal kickass orgy of awesome.
Our team was looking pretty strong, so we were pretty pumped driving up in the bus... I was listening to Phil Collin's "I Can Feel It Coming in the Air Tonight", Eminem's "Lose Yourself", and the Mortal Kombat theme from the movies (XD) as "pre-game" songs to get me pumped... so imagine my delight when first one person, then the whole bus joins in in spontaneously rapping the words to "Lose Yourself", and ending with a freestyle rap by one person about how much ass we were going to kick. XD
Little moments like that are what I live for, man. Stuff that just makes you feel connected with those around you... and rugby's a great sport for that. They're your brothers, fellow warriors who you fight and shed blood with on the battlefield (as coach puts it XD), and there's a unity in that, you know? It's amazing.
XD Well, we might've started out bad, losing 13-5 to a team who already won 10 pre-season games (whereas this was our first time playing), but we got progressively better. We played a team the next day who beat us twice last year, and led the entire game and indeed only lost because of a biased ref (he was their gym teacher... the game should've ended, and he kept telling us 'there was no time left, this is the last play' like five times, until finally when the other team scored, he blew the whistle and ended the game (oh, and the guy who 'scored' touched it down out of bounds, so it shouldn't've counted) - but, what can you do? We still played great, probably better than we played the whole last season.
And then our third game was against the former Ontario provincial champions, and we won - we played amazing, did so many things right, and had a blast doing it. The other team weren't jackasses, either, having wished us luck on our earlier game and we shot the shit with them when there was a halt in the gameplay... definitely a good time, look forward to playing them again sometime, maybe. =)
Coach said that some people were walking on the field instead of running, and that means we're out of shape, which means we need more intensive conditioning!!! :DDDD on top of the hour of sprinting/working out we did monday, plus running on the side!
So, we went home knowing that it's only going to get better... and already, the team spirit is amazing. This is why I play rugby, knowing that everyone around you is your closest friend/trustee (oh, and kicking ass/hitting people on the field, as well. ;D).

Then today it was off to the fencing provincials (which are really for all the atlantic provinces), at my very own school. ^_^ I only one two matches out of like seven, but I probably fenced my best ever... I know I did. 'sides, I was fencing university guys, Canada games people, best fencers in the province... etc. ^_^ But, in fencing, it's far more valuable to fence a better fencer than you and lose than it is to fence a worse fencer and win.
Also, I somewhat seduced/flirted with one of the fencers there. >_> She caught my eye earlier, and when I ended up in an elimination match against her, well... I lost, but with plenty of chatting, eye contact, and smiling, she promised we'd stay in touch through facebook. XD Too bad she lives in nova scotia... we'll probably meet next tournament, though. ;D

So yeah. Awesome weekend, and above all, keeping busy. ^_^

Get lost and refuse to ask for directions? Argere. XD It would KILL his pride to have to do that... he'd rather to continue to wander around, lost.
Get lung cancer? Snack Bar RP!Saturos. >_> The dude hangs out/plays shitty bars all the time, it's inevitable.

Just got back from doing a run for rugby - and man, did I ever need that. ^_^ I was so out of shape, so it was a relief to get out and do something about it. It took me 15 mins to run from school to mcdonald's, where I got a water and an ice coffee, then another 15 to run from there to home - in all, 10ish km in just over a half hour, which is a personal best for me. =D
Going to be doing this every week at least, methinks - god knows I need it! And 'sides, it's fun, and really motivating/feel-good, basking in that happy post-workout glow.
